Our Philosophy

Where Discipline Becomes Artistry.

A ballet educator works individually with a student

At T&Y Ballet Studio, we believe that classical ballet education is built on more than the mastery of technique. It is a disciplined artistic journey shaped by consistency, musical intelligence, respect for tradition, and the pursuit of excellence.

Rooted in the Vaganova method and informed by the professional stage experience of our founders and faculty, our approach brings together technical precision, individual attention, and artistic expression.

We welcome families who value the educational process, understand the importance of regular training, and share our commitment to meaningful, long-term development. Our aim is not simply to teach ballet steps, but to cultivate thoughtful, disciplined, and expressive young dancers who understand the artistry behind their movement.

Why T&Y Ballet Studio

Professional experience

Founded by Sabina Yapparova, former First Soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, and Konstantin Tkachuk, T&Y brings international stage knowledge into ballet education. Our founders work alongside experienced ballet educators and guest faculty, combining theatrical understanding with individual artistic mentorship.

Classical training

Our structured curriculum is rooted in classical ballet methodology. Technical precision, musicality, stage awareness, and artistry develop together through consistent work. From a first class to pre-professional preparation, dancers train in a focused environment with clear expectations and room to grow.

Individual guidance

Small classes make space for individual correction, consistent feedback, and goals suited to each dancer’s age, level, and aspirations. Faculty guide students preparing for auditions, competitions, summer intensives, and advanced training while supporting long-term technical and artistic development.

Student outcomes

Students have earned first-place awards, podium placements, and Top 24 recognition in Canada and the United States. Explore the full student achievements at international ballet competitions.

A Classical Foundation

Placement, alignment, coordination, strength, and control develop through consistent work. Each stage builds on the last, allowing students to understand how a movement is organised and why its quality matters. Teachers adapt their guidance to the dancer’s age, experience, and readiness while maintaining clear technical standards.

Musicality and Artistic Understanding

A dancer learns to hear musical phrasing, recognise character, and give movement intention. Repertoire and expressive work help students connect technical choices with the meaning of a performance. We encourage attentive, thinking dancers who can respond to correction, ask thoughtful questions, and bring their own understanding to the work.

Professional Experience in the Studio

Stage experience informs the details of teaching: the quality of a transition, the timing of a phrase, the clarity of a gesture, and the relationship between preparation and performance. Our founders teach alongside the studio’s faculty, sharing practical knowledge developed through professional careers and sustained artistic work.

The Values We Share

Classical ballet thrives in an environment of mutual respect, consistency, and shared responsibility. Students are expected to arrive prepared, attend training regularly, follow studio standards, and approach their work with focus and commitment.

Families play an essential role through respectful communication, punctuality, and trust in the guidance of our faculty. These shared values help us maintain a focused, supportive, and artistically ambitious learning environment.

Individual Guidance and Shared Responsibility

Individual correction and clear feedback help dancers understand their next steps. Teachers adapt guidance to the student’s age, experience, and readiness, supporting patient, consistent development.

An Education with Lasting Value

Some students will pursue advanced or professional ballet training. Others will carry the concentration, musical sensitivity, discipline, and appreciation of the arts into different parts of their lives. Our commitment is to provide a serious, thoughtful education suited to each stage of development.
