Admissions

Where Serious Ballet Journeys Begin.

At T&Y Ballet Studio, we welcome young beginners discovering classical ballet and motivated dancers ready to commit to more focused training. We value dedication, curiosity, respect for the learning process, and a willingness to work consistently toward meaningful artistic progress.

Our approach to admissions reflects the values of our school: individual attention, thoughtful placement, artistic development, and respect for classical tradition. Faculty recommendations take into account each student’s age, experience, readiness, and aspirations.

For dedicated students pursuing Intermediate or Pre-Professional training, an individual evaluation helps identify the most appropriate path. We seek an environment in which students and families share an understanding of the commitment required for steady progress.

Is T&Y Ballet Studio the right fit for every child?
Our environment is warm and supportive, yet focused and structured. We are the right fit for families who appreciate discipline, artistic integrity, and long-term development.

Little Dancers is for ages 3–6, Junior Ballet for ages 7–10, Intermediate Ballet for ages 11–14, and Adult Ballet for ages 18+. Our Pre-Professional Ballet & Competition Program has an age guide of 11+. Placement also takes account of experience and readiness.
Do I need experience to join?
Not at all! We welcome complete beginners as well as dancers with experience.
How do I know which ballet program is right for my child?
Program placement is based on a student’s age, previous training, technical level, and readiness. Our faculty can recommend the most suitable program following an evaluation.

First class, attire and registration

What should students wear to class?

Students are expected to follow their program’s dress code, including appropriate ballet attire, footwear, and neatly secured hair. Loose or untied hair is not permitted during classical ballet classes. Specific uniform requirements are provided for each program and level.

What should I wear to my first adult ballet class?
If you already have ballet attire - a leotard, ballet tights, and soft ballet slippers - that's perfect!

If not, wear something comfortable - leggings, a T-shirt, or fitted activewear. Socks are fine.
What should children wear to a trial class?
Leotard, tights, and soft ballet shoes (non-leather), if available.

If not - leggings and a T-shirt are fine. A studio uniform is required after the trial class.

Placement and advanced training

How do dancers join the Pre-Professional Ballet & Competition Program?
Dancers join through an individual audition and placement evaluation. The program includes classical technique, pointe work where appropriate, repertoire, artistic development, and preparation of selected dancers for international competitions. Request an evaluation.
Can my child prepare for exams or competitions?
Yes! We offer private coaching and preparation for exams, competitions, and performances.
What's the difference between a trial and evaluation class?
  • Trial: for beginners to try a class.
  • Evaluation: for students with prior experience to determine their level.
What is the difference between Intermediate Ballet and the Pre-Professional Ballet & Competition Program?
Intermediate Ballet develops stronger classical technique, coordination, musicality, and artistic understanding through structured training. The Pre-Professional Ballet & Competition Program is designed for advanced students pursuing a more intensive level of classical ballet training, with specialized coaching and potential opportunities for competition preparation. Placement is determined by the faculty according to each student’s level and readiness.
